Jim Amos is President and CEO of the National Center for Policy Analysis, which tapped him in February 2016 to support the NCPA’s mission to promote alternatives to government regulation and solving problems through the competitive, private sector.

Mr. Amos is the former CEO of Mail Boxes Etc., now The UPS Store, and a 2012 inductee into the International Franchise Association’s Hall of Fame. He is also the 2012 recipient of the Nashville Business Legend Award. He has sought to guide entrepreneurs, associates and fellow citizens as a board member, frequent speaker, writer and blogger (jimamosblog.com), and a constant advocate for military veterans and business format franchising.

Under his leadership as Chairman and CEO, Mail Boxes Etc. became the world’s largest and fastest growing franchisor of retail business, communication and postal service centers. Based in San Diego, the MBE Network comprised nearly 5,000 locations worldwide, with master licensing agreements in more than 80 countries. In 2001, Amos was instrumental in orchestrating the sale of MBE to United Parcel Service and executing the largest re-branding in history of a retail system from MBE to The UPS Store.

A former Marine Corps captain and veteran of split combat tours in Vietnam, Mr. Amos received 12 decorations, including the Purple Heart and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He is the author of several books including the best sellers The Memorial, now being developed in Hollywood as a screen play; Focus or Failure: America at the Crossroads; The Transparent Leader; Corporate Giants; Above and Beyond; You Can Do It; The Entrepreneurs’ Creed; and Living An Uncommon Life. He is also the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Franchising, and co-author of The Tasti D-Lite Way. His newest book, The Journey, is scheduled for release in 2016.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Mr. Amos was honored as the 1998 scholar-in-residence and in 2000 and 2003 with the Distinguished Alumni Award. He has been recognized in “Marquis Who’s Who in America”, “Who’s Who in American Executives”, “Who’s Who in Finance and Industry”, “Who’s Who in American Authors” and “The International Authors and Writers Who’s Who”.

Mr. Amos has served or is serving on the boards of The Marine Military Academy, The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, Meineke Car Care Centers, Oreck Corporation, Zig Ziglar Corporation, WSI of Canada, The University of Missouri, SkinPhd, The HealthStore Foundation, Aspen Dental, and The Joint.

He has been a guest on Hannity, Greta Van Susteren’s On the Record, and has provided commentary on Fox Business, MSNBC and CNBC. He was a guest speaker at Yale and Harvard in 2013 and also for the National Restaurant Association, the National Association of Development Companies, The International Franchise Association convention and Prayer Breakfast, the “New Normal Entrepreneurs” conference for Crown Financial Ministries, and The Secret Knock, a by-invitation conference for leaders and visionaries.

Mr. Amos is particularly passionate about small business ownership and how small businesses built wealth for families and communities. He is committed to supporting and honoring veterans, and welcomes opportunities to share the lessons he has learned in business, faith, philosophy, and leadership.
